For most people being called out of bed in the middle of the night to help with the difficult delivery of a foal might not seem the most auspicious start to a HOLIDAY but for DAVID BEATTIE and his wife Annette it was the beginning of a love affair with Wales.

ARTIST/PRINTMAKER David had set up his first studio in NOTTINGHAM in 1980 and this incident on a RIDING HOLIDAY marked the beginning of many holidays in Wales and gave the couple a taste for a truly RURAL EXISTENCE.
The PEACEFUL, though not uneventful, life they experienced there during these breaks from their URBAN EXISTENCE provided them with UNLIMITED INSPIRATION and with a growing demand for Davids work in this country and abroad it became possible for them to move to Llandygwydd near Cardigan in 1988.
At college in Loughborough it was the 400 year old technique of ORIGINAL PRINT MAKING that captured David's imagination and now through this LABORIOUS AND TIME CONSUMING PROCESS he sets out to record what he sees - his encounters with the world around him.
His CRAFTSMANLIKE approach to art has brought him many successes - an entire edition of prints sold out at the ROYAL ACADEMY Summer Exhibition, his work has been published through CHRISTIE'S CONTEMPORARY ART and is to be found in collections in the UK and beyond.
